Seffarine Live Performance & Fundraiser

Join our favorite musical duo Nat Hulskamp and Lamiae Naki, the husband and wife team that make up Seffarine. They will perform selections from their recent CD De Fez a Jerez (translation: from Fez to Jerez). Their CD has been rated in the Top 10 of several World Music rankings! This is Seffarine’s debut album, recorded in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain and Portland, Oregon. Hence Jerez in their CD title. The Fez comes from Fes, Morocco, where Lamiae grew up. All the original songs were written by Nat and Lamiae and include influences from Spanish flamenco, American jazz, and Classical Persian music- truly world music at its best!

This First Friday event will be a Fundraiser for the Syrian Refugees. Nat just returned from Lesbos, Greece where he volunteered to assist the Refugees. So he saw first hand how much these refugees need help. We will be selling the Seffarine CDs during First Friday with $5.00 of every sale going to support the Syrian Refugees. Northwest Wools will match all CD sales during this time as our contribution to this critical situation.

To further show our support for the Syrian Refugees, we are inviting all you Fiber Folks to donate hand made hats to the 25,000 Tuques Campaign (25,000 Hats Campaign). This is being organized by a Canadian Knitter to show their support for the Refugees and to fight racism and religious bigotry. Please drop off your hand knit, crocheted or woven hats during this First Friday event – or anytime during the month of April. We will deliver it to the 25,000 Tuques Campaign in Canada.
