We've lovingly created the Vesper Shawl pattern for the 2024 Rose City Yarn Crawl, and we're so excited to reveal it! Inspired by the theme of Pacific Northwest Flora and Fauna, this pattern and kit will be available for purchase when Yarn Crawl begins on March 7, 2024.
The Vesper Shawl is a celebration of Oregon's Little Brown Bat. This amazing animal is a vital part of our ecosystem, spreading seeds, pollinating plants, and capable of eating more than 1,200 mosquitoes in a single night. And it's a MAMMAL that can FLY!
The name is taken from Vespertilionidae, the scientific family of insect-eating microbats to which Little Brown Bats belong. Vesper is Latin for "evening," and bats were once referred to as "evening birds."
Designed to mimic the structure of a bat's wings, the Vesper Shawl is knit from the top down. Increases occur on the front edges and along five spines, representing the body and fingers of the bat. This cape-like crescent shawl is designed to sit securely on your shoulders. Or wrap the ends across your front if you're feeling especially bat-like, and take flight for an evening of adventure.
The kit includes the pattern and two skeins of Knitted Wit Non-Superwash Fingering. Recommended needle size: US 5/3.75 mm (not included).
Unwound, like-new yarn may be returned in-store for store credit within 6 months of purchase. Like-new knitting needles and crochet hooks with original packaging may be returned in-store for store credit within 1 week of purchase.
All items must be accompanied by a receipt. If a return must be shipped back to Northwest Wools, the customer is responsible for all shipping costs.
No returns or exchanges are accepted on any other items or on clearance items.
Prepackged kits will include yarns of the same dye lot; however, when purchasing yarn by the skein we cannnot garuntee that all skeins in an order will be from the same lot.
